Community Kindergarten based on Community People (CKCP)

  1. Introduction

    There are 2 villages, Teankrom and Teahen Leu village, which located in Svay Rieng province with 305 families are living with 59 children who have ages ratio from 3-5 years old. The Community Kindergarten based on Community People was assigned by Tompeang Russey Khmer Association (TRK) with cooperation by local public school, local authority and Department of Education Youths and Sport in Svay Rieng province.

    Community Kindergarten based on Community People started its operation from 16 June, 2013 with funded in total amount 4,923.50USD by Korea Hope Foundation (KHF) and local contribution.

  2. Project Result

    Plan and achievement

    Specific Objective(1)PlanAchievement
    Build a kindergarten and a library

    -A suitable place to build kindergarten and library is purchased by the end of March, 2013.

    -Around 30 kids is selected to attend kindergarten

    -The place for building was bought in June, 2013.

    -35 Kids were selected for Kindergarten class 2years old= 1(girl), 3years old=8 kids(boy=3), 4years old=12kids (Male=9kids), 5years=12kids(Male=6), 6years old=2kids

    The class conducting was changed to morning 7:00 to 9:00am

    -In new academic year 10 students will be sent to grade 1 of primary school

    -MoU is signed by TRK, villagers and Local authority-Mou with villagers and local authority on 14 March, 2013
    -A proper building for kindergarten and library is built from April to May, 2013.-Was built from 18 June, 2013 to 21 July, 2013.
    -A capable woman teacher is signed on the contract-A woman teacher signed a contract late September, 2013

    Operate the kindergarten-The children will learn through the education program that parallel to the program of public kindergarten in the city.

    -A capable teacher is prepared for teaching-Kindergarten has been teaching from 03 October, 2013 till 30 July, 2014 -The Kindergarten teacher joint the extra training on Kindergarten skill
    -Parents aware about kindergarten

    -Parents meeting was delayed, but some of them came with their children

    -Joint for the meeting to share the opinion about kindergarten operation related to their children

    Operate the library-Children and villagers read books in the library.30 Kindergarten children use library through teacher reading and approximately, 300 readers per months used the library in the increasing(English classes students regularly joint)-English teachers brought the books to display for children from 14 October, 2013 until 30 July, 2014.
    -2 village volunteers is selected since March and operate the library in June 2013 until 30 July, 2014

    -2 village volunteers is selected in September, 2013

    -Children and villagers read books in the library.30 Kindergarten children use library through teacher reading and approximately, 300 readers per months used the library in the increasing(English classes students regularly joint)-English teachers brought the books to display for children from 14 October, 2013 until 30 July, 2014.
    -About 40 for primary school students (1 class =20) learned English low level from village volunteers

    -From 02:00 to 3:00 English class, there are 22 students (male=17) attended with ages from 5-10 years old, touch byMs. Has Pheareak

    -From 3:00to 4:00 pm English class , there are 20 students from 11-14 years old attended (Male=9)

    Extra Achievement: The new kindergarten teacher was supported by UNICEF for Teaching Skill via Department of Education, Youths and Sport for 10 days from 5 November to 15 November, 2013.

  3. Financial Management

    Tompeang Russey Khmer Association (TRK) received fund support from Korea Hope Foundation (KHF) for Community Kindergarten based on Community People for 12 months of operation fund. Funding transfer 1 time by KHF via ACLEDA Bank Plc. as below:

    TRK joint the fund for 1,000.00 USD from electricity project for buying land.

    And local villagers participated 150.00USD via fund raising.

    In addition TRK have 250.00USD and 50.00USD from local villagers to join for school fence construction in August, 2014

    In 12 months operation TRK expensed in amount 3745.50 USD for construction and program operation. The original receipts attached with this the final report.

  4. Conclusion

    Based on the project’s implementation and achievement in the first 12 months which funded by KHF, TRK and villagers . TRK observed that children changed a lot with their sanitation behavior, braveness and knowledge. The children in the Kindergarten are well movement to schooling at the public primary school in the future. Non-formal education(English classes) and part-time library are encouraging the children to go more for long time education. For new academic year 2014-2015 TRK is preparing the send 10 students (2 girls) from kindergarten to primary school. For library users and non-formal education will be increased by next year.

    Moreover the project is role very important in reducing the gambling, alcohol drinking and family violence of villagers via positive acts of their kids. This project also make a great union for education supporting through the volunteering of villagers to build this school.
